Evaluation of Curricula

Courses and academic programs are approved by the Assistant Dean for Graduate Education in the Medical School, the Academic Health Center, and the Office of the Provost.

The Program Steering Committee addresses the long terms needs of the program and the contents of the Medical Physics program. This committee provides long term direction and vision for the program. The committee also addresses course selection within the program, conducts evaluations of courses within the program, plans the addition of other courses to the program, and ensures that the courses required for continued CAMPEP accreditation of the Medical Physics program are available. The Steering Committee meets twice a year to evaluate these goals.

Student evaluation of individual classes is elicited via a survey at the completion of each course. The results of the survey are used to both improve the classes and as direct evidence of instructor teaching effectiveness. These teaching surveys are a portion of the annual review of the individual and are a component of the packet prepared for promotion and tenure within the University of Minnesota system.

To date, graduating students have not been surveyed as to the effectiveness of the program in preparing them for their future careers in Medical Physics or for how the program can be improved in this regard. This exit survey will become a component of the program.
